Cardiff City House of Sport

Cardiff City Football Club/Cardiff City House of Sport

Just Solutions have been engaged on a number of occasions since 2012 by Steve Borley - Managing Director CMB Engineering, Director Cardiff City Football Club and Cardiff City House of Sport. We conducted research, prepared development and business plans and secured external funding in support of a number of projects developing Cardiff City House of Sport, a unique facility nestled in a prime location in Wales' capital.

House of Sport - Second Phase Development

We began our work with the House of Sport in 2012, producing a business plan for a new Football and Ball Sports Hall adjoining the existing House of Sport. This was the second phase of development, designed to enhance and complement their existing facilities.

This would be the first facility of its kind in Wales, specialising in the development of small-sided football, Futsal, as well as providing new opportunities for Disability Sport.

In addition to preparing the business case for this development, we helped the House of Sport secure over £400,000 in grant funding from the Premier League Community Facilities Fund and Sport Wales.

House of Sport - Third Phase Development

In 2015 we built on our experience working with the House of Sport to create a business plan for the third phase of development: adding 4 new indoor tennis centre courts to the existing House of Sport facilities.

These courts would replace the recently closed Welsh National Tennis Centre, delivering on the Tennis Wales 2020 Vision principles of growing participation, increasing accessibility and supporting talented players to achieve their potential.

This business case informed a subsequent funding application securing £100,000 in funding from the Lawn Tennis Association.

In 2016 we prepared a development and business plan for a new Rugby and Football 3G pitch on the Leckwith site. This project built on our extensive experience working on 3G projects, as facility consultants for the Football Association of Wales, delivering their 3G development programme and researching and writing the Collaborative Sports Plan for Artificial Pitches in Wales.

Competitive Venue - Netball Super League & International Futsal

The most recent stage in our journey with Cardiff City House of Sport has been the preparation of a business case for investment in a competitive venue for Celtic Dragons Netball Super League and international Futsal.

This would involve creating a bespoke facility for elite Futsal and Netball - an unparalleled development in Wales - as well as enhancing community participation and encouraging learning with an education hub.

This project secured over £350,000 of funding from National Governing Bodies, Sport Wales and the Welsh Government.
